Technologically proper insulation of a wooden carcass house provide lower heating costs. When planning and building any type of a house, a significant question are heating costs during the exploitation of a house. Wooden carcass house can provide lower costs, thanks to a great building technology and a proper heating insulation.

Why does it need to insulate a house?

Properly not insulated house during the exploitation shows a huge heating loss. As far as heating becomes more and more expensive, every owner of a private house thinks about saving heating costs. By studying the physical heat of a building, it is possible to predict which positions need more investment during construction.  In percentage the hugest loss of heat – 30% gives a roof of the building, that’s why an attention should be paid on it, 25% goes through walls, but 20% openings and other leakage points where the air is circulating. Contrary to the widespread perception of the thermal conductivity of the windows, the windows itself put 15% of the total house heat while the floor of the building loses 10%. When renovating the building, it is possible to check the loss of the heat with special equipment – heat loss meters or thermocouples using thermography. During the process, visually heat loss sites, buildings with high thermal transmittance, places with high humidity and, as a result, the energy efficiency of the house are shown.

So it is known, where and how much should be invested money and materials during the building and renovation for a proper insulation. Also, thanks to thermography, it is possible to check the work is done and the quality of the material, before the building is put into an exploitation, also costs conformity to the quality, when you decide to buy a new building.

Of course, low heating costs is not the only reason, why do people choose to live in an insulated house. For example, the wooden house already for a long time associates with a coziness and warmth, besides the heat is an important factor in our climatic zone, where we experience all the seasons. In a cold season – in winter and some autumn and spring months – appropriate insulation lets have a stable temperature inside the house and do not feel the coldness and humidity. In summer an insulation doesn’t let the warmth to get inside, so it is very comfortable inside. So you don’t need extra condition resources, which highers heating costs. It is significant to remember, that with a heating insulation works sound insulation, providing a nice silence inside the house.

Appropriate housing insulation also has a protective effect on the environment. Reducing the energy consumption of an individual project by insulation every home reduces overall energy use and unnecessary fusion of heat, saving planetary natural resources and reducing the greenhouse effect.

An important factor in thinking about the future is to raise the value of the property. The quality of thermal insulation is essential if renting or selling the property. Therefore, it is also important to show that the building is insulated to meet the requirements.

Heating costs in a wooden carcass house as in three room flat

The most effective material for insulation wooden carcass house is hard or semi-hard mineral wool slab. This material provides a high heating and sound insulation level without changing geometric sizes during the time. Wooden carcass house construction, if it is technologically properly built (hermetic), energy efficient by itself, that’s why there are relatively low heating costs in the wooden carcass houses. Without a doubt, The energy efficiency is ensured by the correct insulation – the thermal insulation material incorporated in the technology, the joints properly fixed, etc. If wooden carcass house is correct insulated and built, then 150 m2 big building’ heating costs will be approximately the same as for three-room flat. By fulfilling all building requirements in the insulation of the house, the wooden carcass house preserves the unique microclimate of the wooden house. If there is used a natural insulation material during the insulation, then walls and the insulation material become as a whole, which “breath” to the inner and outer side. A special advantage is that a wooden carcass house is possible to insulate without using any building films, because, for saving an ecological and natural microclimate, it is preferable to use “breathing” decoration materials.

Modular house, panel house, the prefabricated house provides lower heating costs

If the goal is to ensure that the wooden carcass house is guaranteed energy-efficient, it is desirable to choose a wood frame house built from industrial-built modules. Such a house is also referred to as a modular house, panel house, prefabricated house or ready-made house. For such a house, the construction of the building is manufactured industrially, for example, wood panels already have a certain thickness of thermal insulation material, and this insulation technology provides greater accuracy and eliminates the risk of insulating errors, and allows the thermal insulation of the building to be created with exactly the thermal conductivity that is needed, and this allows you to plan low heating costs.

Wooden carcass house – which insulation material is the best?

Eco wool, stone wool or mineral wool is used usually for insulating wooden carcass houses. Significant is the fact, that an insulating material is not only heated insulating but also natural. For heating buildings, linen shingles, peat, hemp, etc were in use for a long time ago. Nowadays the nature of the insulation material also becomes more and more popular. A natural insulation material is eco wool. It has great insulating characteristics. Insulating with an eco wool, you have not only a good heat insulation, but also a sound insulation. Eco wools can fill out very well the smallest joints, eco wool prevents the formation of condensation in the walls. If the building is insulated with eco wool, relatively simple materials and technology can be used for wall finishing. In turn, inside the building walls are insulated with hardboard. It provides the sound insulation and heat, and steam insulation. By the way, insulating with hardboard is very easy, every person is able to do it by himself.

Types of wooden carcass houses insulation materials

For wooden carcass, wooden panel, wooden modular house insulating can be used materials of three types – mineral wool, synthetic material, and natural fibers. Each heating insulation material has its own pluses and minuses. Mineral wool is the most popular insulation type for private houses and public buildings. There are two types of a mineral wool in use – stone and glass wool, which is produced from volcanic rocks, sand or even recycled glass, in the form of rolls in the wool. The producing process is not really natural by itself – during the producing there is a lot of energy used and CO2 gas is distributed. An advantage of the mineral wool is low costs and fireproof, but while installing, the material may cause irritation, therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate work safety measures: face mask, gloves, and glasses.

Synthetic insulation materials are produced from oil products, by producing the polyurethane foam or foam for thermal insulation. Advantages of both materials are low costs and high durability. Synthetic materials are is insensitive to insects, provide soundproofing, increase the stability of the structure. But synthetic insulation materials similar to other oil products are not renewable, it burns out releasing toxic gas, and the temperature fluctuates, after which the result can be shrinkage.

Natural fibers insulating materials are produced from natural resources – plants or animals, for example, hemp, cotton fibers, cotton, sheep wool, straw, feathers, cork and even recycled waste paper. The producing process does not influence an environment, because, when recycling, a little part o fan energy is used, and all the materials are renewable. But, when producing in a small amount, a natural material is more expensive than mineral wool or synthetic insulation remedy, that’s why the financial factor largely discourages homeowners from warming with natural fibers, although the health effects of different materials should always be remembered and investment in the future should be considered.
